Tawny Owl Class Blog
Week 5
To round off our topic about First Flight we enjoyed a lovely day at the Aerozone in Stansted learning about some of its history and how the airport operates.
We were lucky enough to be visited by the security dog handler ( fresh off the Prime Minister's plane) who told us lots about the dogs and how they train them.
The children showed off a lot of their knowledge about the history of aviation and were all brilliantly behaved and a credit to the school. All in all a great day! Next week we have a real life pilot coming to visit us!
Week 4
In maths, we have been looking at 2d and 3d shapes, drawing, comparing and finding lines of symmetry. Continuing maths, some children practised their number bonds in Independent Learning time and enjoyed the challenge of a game.
Creative maps in independent learning time and letter writing.
In History, the children became spies today and tried to 'copy' the First Flyer' through small peepholes in the shed it was being stored in. A great way to have them look carefully at the design of the first plane and to practice their team work skills!
We have also been learning a lot about Amelia Earhart and are about to write a fact file about her. Finally, we have begun to practice our dance for the Dance Festival in March - I think everyone has just about got the moves!
Week 3
Welcome to our new blog! I thought I'd add a few photos to let you know what we've been up to. Firstly, we have been enjoying our new library.
We have been learning about the Wright Brothers' life using lots of different props!
And then investigating why we thought they were successful using a diamond 4.
Finally, in our Independent Learning time some children made Big Ben and then labelled it with names of types of transport - in chronological order. Very inspired!
