Our vision reflects both what is special about Manuden and what we want for every child.

We are proud to be a small village school where children are known as individuals, relationships matter and families are an important part of our community. At the same time, being a small school does not mean having small ambitions.

We want every child to experience an excellent education, develop confidence in who they are and leave Manuden believing that their future is full of possibility.

Growing Hearts

Growing Hearts is about developing good people.

We want children to feel safe, valued and that they belong.

Through strong relationships, clear expectations and opportunities to contribute to school life, we help pupils develop:

Growing Minds

Growing Minds is about developing knowledgeable, curious and independent learners.

We have high expectations for every pupil.

Our curriculum is ambitious, broad and carefully sequenced so that children build secure knowledge and skills as they move through the school.

We want pupils to:

• become fluent and confident readers, writers and mathematicians;
• acquire rich knowledge across the curriculum;
• ask thoughtful questions;
• think critically and solve problems;
• communicate their ideas clearly;
• develop creativity and curiosity;
• make connections between what they have learned;
• persevere when learning is challenging; and
• develop a genuine enjoyment of learning.

High-quality teaching is central to achieving this.

We recognise that children do not all learn in the same way or at the same rate. Through adaptive teaching, appropriate support and reasonable adjustments, we aim to remove barriers while maintaining ambitious expectations for all pupils.

Growing Dreams

Growing Dreams is about aspiration, opportunity and believing in what is possible.

Primary school should help children discover talents, interests and ambitions that they may carry throughout their lives.

We want children to experience opportunities that broaden their horizons and help them understand the wider world.

Through our curriculum, sport, music, the arts, educational visits, residential experiences, clubs, pupil leadership and links with our community, we encourage children to:

• discover new interests and talents;
• develop confidence to try something unfamiliar;
• set ambitious goals;
• understand that mistakes and setbacks are part of learning;
• persevere towards things that matter to them;
• take pride in their achievements;
• contribute positively to their community; and
• believe that their background or circumstances should not limit their aspirations.

We want pupils to leave Manuden excited about the next stage of their education and confident that they can continue to learn, grow and achieve.

High Expectations for Every Child

Our vision applies to every pupil.

We are committed to providing an inclusive education in which pupils with SEND, disabilities, disadvantaged pupils and those experiencing other barriers are supported to participate fully in school life and achieve well.

Equality does not always mean giving every child exactly the same thing. It means understanding individual needs, removing barriers and providing the right support so that every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.

We combine this support with high expectations. We want every child to make strong progress from their individual starting point and to experience success.

Our Community

One of Manuden's greatest strengths is its sense of community.

Children, families, staff, governors and the wider village all have a part to play in making our school successful.

We want relationships between home and school to be built on trust, respect, openness and a shared commitment to children's education.

As a small school, we have the opportunity to know our pupils and families well. We want to preserve that closeness while continually improving the quality and ambition of the education we provide.
