At Manuden Primary School, we want every child to leave us feeling confident, well prepared and excited about the next stage of their education.

As a small school, we know our pupils extremely well and work closely with children and families throughout Year 6 to support a successful transition to secondary school.

Our pupils move on to a range of secondary schools across Essex and Hertfordshire, reflecting the different needs, interests and choices of our families.

Supporting Transition

Transition to secondary school is an important milestone, and we work carefully with pupils, families and receiving schools to make the process as smooth and positive as possible.

During Year 6, we support pupils by:

• preparing them for the increased independence and responsibility of secondary school;
• developing confidence, organisation and resilience;
• liaising closely with receiving secondary schools to share relevant information;
• supporting children with visits and transition activities;
• providing additional transition support where an individual child may benefit from it; and
• helping children feel positive and confident about moving into Year 7.

Where appropriate, we work particularly closely with secondary schools and families to put additional arrangements in place for pupils with SEND or other individual needs.

Our aim is for every child to leave Manuden ready for their next step, confident in themselves and proud of everything they have achieved during their time with us.
