No Outsiders

At Manuden Primary School, we want every child to feel safe, valued, respected and included.

Our commitment to equality and inclusion is part of our wider school vision, “Growing Hearts, Growing Minds, Growing Dreams”, and is reflected throughout school life, including our curriculum, assemblies, relationships and expectations for behaviour.

Our PSHE curriculum is delivered through Kapow Primary, supported by carefully selected No Outsiders resources. Together, these help children develop the knowledge, understanding and attitudes they need to build positive relationships, respect difference and contribute positively to their community.

No Outsiders

No Outsiders supports our teaching about equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging.

Through age-appropriate books, discussion and activities, children learn that people and families can be different and that everyone should be treated with dignity and respect.

The programme helps children to:

  • celebrate difference;
  • understand that everyone belongs;
  • recognise and challenge unkindness and discrimination;
  • listen respectfully to different viewpoints;
  • understand the importance of fairness and equality.

Protected Characteristics

The Equality Act 2010 identifies nine protected characteristics:

  • age;
  • disability;
  • gender reassignment;
  • marriage and civil partnership;
  • pregnancy and maternity;
  • race;
  • religion or belief;
  • sex;
  • sexual orientation.

At primary school, these themes are explored in age-appropriate ways and within the wider context of relationships, respect, equality and life in modern Britain.

Everyone Belongs at Manuden

We want children to understand a simple and consistent message:

Everyone is welcome. Everyone is valued. Everyone belongs.

By using Kapow Primary alongside No Outsiders, we aim to help children develop empathy, confidence, respect and an understanding of the diverse world around them.

At Manuden Primary School, there are no outsiders. Everyone is welcome.
