Technical information about this website's accessibility
Manuden Primary School is committed to making its website accessible in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
We are currently reviewing this website against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 AA standard.
We are working with our website provider to establish the current accessibility status of the site and to identify any areas requiring improvement.
We will update this statement when that review has been completed.
Non-accessible content
We are currently reviewing the website to identify any content that does not fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards.
Some older documents published on the website may not have been created with full digital accessibility in mind. If you experience difficulty accessing any document or information, please contact the School Office and we will provide the information in an alternative accessible format wherever reasonably possible.
Documents
Some older PDF and Word documents may not be fully accessible to screen-reader software. They may, for example:
- lack appropriate heading structures;
- contain tables that are difficult for screen readers to navigate;
- contain scanned material;
- lack appropriate alternative text.
As policies and statutory documents are reviewed and replaced, we aim to publish them in increasingly accessible formats.
If you require any document in an alternative format, please contact the School Office.
Images
We aim to provide meaningful alternative text for images where this is required. Some historic images may not yet contain appropriate alternative text.
Videos
Where video is published, we aim to provide captions or other accessible alternatives where reasonably practicable.
Links and tables
We aim to use descriptive link text and appropriately structured tables. Historic pages or documents may not always meet this standard.
Maps and third-party content
Embedded maps and some content supplied by third-party providers may not be fully accessible.
Where essential information is contained within a map, we will also make relevant information, such as the school address and contact details, available in text.
Third-party websites and services are outside the school's direct technical control, although we will consider accessibility when selecting services and suppliers.
What we are doing to improve accessibility
We are working to improve accessibility by:
- reviewing website content when pages are updated;
- using clear headings and page structures;
- improving link descriptions;
- adding alternative text to relevant images;
- replacing outdated and inaccessible documents as policies are reviewed;
- making current school documents available in alternative formats where required;
- considering accessibility when new online services or digital content are introduced;
- working with our website provider, Juniper Websites, where technical improvements are required.
Our wider accessibility arrangements
Website accessibility forms part of Manuden Primary School's wider commitment to inclusion and accessibility.
The school's Accessibility Plan 2026–2029 sets out how we will increase access to:
- the curriculum;
- the physical school environment; and
- information for disabled pupils.
Our Accessibility Plan is reviewed regularly by the Headteacher, SENCO and Governing Body.
Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was first prepared on 28 January 2025.
